Chery logo, Chery emblem
The name of the Chinese car brand Chery appeared as a result of transliteration error. In Chinese, “chery” is read as ” ki ruy” which means “special blessing”. It should have been translated in English as “Cheery,” but the management of the company finally decided to leave the error.
Logo of Chery, which appeared in 1997, the same year when the company was founded – is a kind of image of the acronym “CAC”, the full name of the company «Chery Automobile Corporation». “C” letter straddle the letter “A”, which, according to one version, means “first class” and the letter “C” in turn – is embracing hands, symbolizing the unity and strength. According to another version, the letter “A” – a capital letter of Anhui province, where the company was founded.
Someone believes that Chery logo idea was borrowed from the Japanese Infiniti, which emblem means the road, stretching to infinity. Some similarities are still there, the letter “A” resemble the very road.
In 2013, the company has updated its logo. The letter “A” was cut off, and the edges of letters “C” are combined in a single unit, so that appeared a triangle enclosed in an oval. According to the Chinese themselves, the parties of this diamond-shaped triangle means development, quality and technology – the “three pillars” upon which the company is based. At the same time the font of the brand was slightly changed. Now, the word «Chery» became narrower for meeting the width of the logo and the letter «R» became sharper and more aggressive than before.
In general, the logo became “smoother” and more modern.
