Lexus car brand – is the “child” of well-known Japanese company Toyota. The idea of creating machines of vip-class has appeared in the 80s of the last century, and in January 1988 the company presented the first model of the Lexus and its logo respectively at the auto show in Los Angeles (USA).
Stylized English letter “L”, encircled by an oval – chrome emblem does not need any other additions. It is concise, simple and at the same time dynamic, so it looks really elegant and luxurious. The authorship belongs to automobile designer Giorgetto Giugiaro from Italy. Initially, the logo was made up in the form of a heraldic shield, but Giorgetto did not like this variant, and he offered his logo, which is now known worldwide.
There are several versions of how the name «Lexus» appeared. It is believed that it was invented collectively when there were such options as “Celsius” and “Alexis” (girl’s name), perhaps these words were ‘crossed’, someone just combined them. In another embodiment, «Lexus» – is derived from the English “elegance” and ‘luxury” or simply from “luxe”, which indicates the highest quality of products. There is also a version that «Lexus» – is an acronym and stands for “luxury exports to US”. This version has its own logic, because Toyota initially planned to produce these cars just for the United States.
Also, there was a label with the inscription «Lexus» which was attached to the cars, but now the company has decided to place only the emblem because it has become so famous that no longer needs to be decrypted.
